When discussing electric vehicles, you can use a single question word to ask about range, battery capacity, and charging times: ne kadar.
Asking "How much?"
Ne kadar literally means "what amount" and translates to "how much." Place it at the end of a sentence to ask about a total, or directly before a noun or adjective.
| What is this car's range? | Bu arabanın menzili ne kadar? |
| How large is the battery's capacity? | Bataryanın kapasitesi ne kadar büyük? |
| How much fuel does the electric car save? | Elektrikli araba ne kadar yakıt tasarrufu yapıyor? |
Asking "How long?"
Ne kadar also asks for amounts of time ("how long"). Pair it with zaman (time) to ask "how much time," or with a verb like sürmek (to take / to last) to ask about duration.
| How much time does it take to fully charge the car? | Arabayı tamamen şarj etmek ne kadar zaman alıyor? |
| The battery is at fifty percent, how long does it take to fully charge? | Batarya yüzde elli, tamamen şarj etmek ne kadar sürüyor? |
| If you are charging the battery at home, it takes ten hours. | Bataryayı evde şarj ediyorsan on saat sürüyor. |
Talking about Percentages
To answer questions about battery life, you need percentages. The word for percent is yüzde (literally "in a hundred"). Unlike English, you always state yüzde before the number.
| percent | yüzde |
| The car's battery is at twenty percent, it needs to be charged. | Arabanın bataryası yüzde yirmi, şarj etmek lazım. |
