### Expressing "Even though" with *-dığı halde*

To express a contradiction or an unexpected outcome—like not losing weight despite your best efforts—Turkish uses the structure **-dığı halde**. 

This structure translates to "in the state of doing" and is formed with:
- The verb stem
- The participle suffix **-dık** / **-dik** / **-duk** / **-dük**
- A possessive suffix to show *who* does the action
- The word **halde**

Since most possessive suffixes start with a vowel, the **k** in **-dık** usually softens to **ğ** (for example, **-dığım**, **-dığın**, **-dığı**).

Notice in the example above: **sınırla** (limit) + **-dığ** + **-ım** (my) + **halde** = "even though I limit."

### Changing the Subject

To change who is performing the action, simply swap the possessive suffix. For a third-person subject ("he", "she", or "it"), the suffix is **-ı** / **-i** / **-u** / **-ü**, giving us the standard form **-dığı halde**.

### Combining Actions

When a person does multiple things before the unexpected outcome, you do not need to repeat **-dığı halde** for every action. Connect the verbs using the **-ıp** / **-ip** suffix for the first action, and apply **-dığı halde** only to the final verb in the sequence.
