Questions & Answers about คุณ คิด ว่า ผม บ้า ใช่ไหม ครับ

How do I use the new word เปล่า to answer this question?
If you want to say 'No, I do not think that,' you can simply answer with เปล่า (plao). Because the speaker is asking for confirmation of an assumption ('is that right?'), เปล่า is the perfect standalone negative response to say 'not so'. Add ครับ or ค่ะ to be polite!
Why is ว่า in the middle of the sentence? I learned it means 'to say'.
ว่า (wa) can mean 'to say', but here it acts as the linking word 'that'. It links the verb คิด (to think) to the rest of the sentence (ผมบ้า - I am crazy). Unlike English where we can drop the word 'that' (You think I'm crazy), in Thai you must always use ว่า to link clauses after verbs of thinking, speaking, or feeling.
Could I just use ไหม instead of ใช่ไหม at the end?
It would change the meaning. ไหม (mai) is used for genuine yes/no questions where you do not know the answer at all. ใช่ไหม (chai mai) is a tag question, like 'right?' or 'don't you?'. The speaker already suspects you think they are crazy and is asking for confirmation.
If I actually do think he is crazy, how do I answer 'yes' to this?
When a question ends with ใช่ไหม, you do not repeat the main verb to say yes, which is what you would normally do with standard ไหม questions. You simply reply with ใช่ (chai), which means 'yes' or 'that is correct'.
