Questions & Answers about พ่อ ไม่ ทำงาน
Why is the word ไม่ placed right before the verb?
In Thai, to make a sentence negative, you simply place the negation word ไม่ directly in front of the verb you want to negate. So, "does not work" is just ไม่ (not) plus ทำงาน (work).
Where is the word for "does" in this sentence?
Thai does not use helper verbs like "do" or "does" to make negative sentences. Instead of saying "does not work", you just say "not work" (ไม่ ทำงาน). This makes Thai sentences much simpler than English ones!
What is the difference between ทำงาน and just งาน?
ทำงาน is the verb meaning "to work". It is actually made of two words: ทำ (to do) and งาน (work or job). If you just use งาน, it acts as a noun. Since we need an action here, we use the full verb ทำงาน.
Why doesn't the sentence say "My father" or "The father"?
In Thai, words like "my", "your", or "the" are often left out when the context is clear. By simply saying พ่อ (father), a Thai speaker usually implies "my father" if they are talking about their own family.
