Adding Remarkable Intensity
To express that a situation is surprisingly intense, use the colloquial modifier น่าดู. While it literally translates to "worth looking at," in everyday conversation it means "remarkably," "surprisingly," or "quite a bit."
Place น่าดู at the end of the phrase, directly after a stative verb (adjective) or action.
| The weather today is remarkably sticky. | วันนี้ อากาศ เหนอะหนะ น่าดู |
| This apartment is surprisingly cramped. | อพาร์ตเมนต์ นี้ คับแคบ น่าดู |
This is highly useful for casually exaggerating everyday situations, like a frustrating expense or an intense emotional state.
| This car consumes a remarkably large amount of gas. | รถยนต์ คัน นี้ เปลือง น้ำมัน น่าดู |
| The boss is remarkably furious today. | วันนี้ เจ้านาย เกรี้ยวกราด น่าดู |
You can also pair น่าดู with vocabulary that already has a strong meaning—such as หรูหรา (luxurious), ยุ่งเหยิง (chaotic), or มหาศาล (enormous)—to emphasize the exceptional scale of something.
| That new hotel is surprisingly luxurious. | โรงแรม ใหม่ นั้น หรูหรา น่าดู |
| The work should be remarkably messy. | งาน น่าจะ ยุ่งเหยิง น่าดู |
| This project uses a remarkably immense budget. | โครงการ นี้ ใช้ งบประมาณ มหาศาล น่าดู ค่ะ |
