The "As Soon As... Then..." Structure

To express that one event triggers another, Thai uses the sequence structure พอ... ก็... (as soon as... then...).

Place พอ at the beginning of the trigger event, and ก็ right before the action or result that follows. This is perfect for talking about smart homes and automated systems.

Sensors and Immediate Reactions

To emphasize how fast a system reacts, the word ทันที (immediately) is often added at the end of the sentence.

Commands and System Responses

The พอ... ก็... structure also works for human input, like when a system responds to a command.

It is also useful for automated security features.

When a CCTV camera detects movement, it triggers an alert.

Chain reactions can be strung together—as soon as you receive the notification, the next sequence begins.
