The Immediate Future (กำลังจะ)
To state that an action or event is "about to" happen, use the imminent future marker กำลังจะ. Place it immediately before the main verb.
| This city is about to flood. |
| The big tree is about to fall. |
| My phone is about to explode. |
"There Is About to Be" (กำลังจะมี)
When warning that an event—like a natural disaster—is about to occur, place กำลังจะ before มี (to have / there is).
| There is about to be an earthquake! |
Taking Urgent Action
In emergency situations, you will often talk about hiding (ซ่อน) or fleeing (หนี). Use กำลังจะ to describe what someone or something is about to do.
| The cat is about to go hide under the bed. |
| He is about to flee the earthquake. |
Compound Warnings
If several things are about to happen at once, you can use กำลังจะ for each event. The conjunctions และ (and) and ก็ (also) are often used to string these imminent events together in a single sentence.
| The TV is about to turn off, and the signal is also about to disappear. |
