Expressing "Even if" with ต่อให้...ก็ยัง
When you want to state that an outcome remains unchanged regardless of the circumstances, use the conditional pairing ต่อให้...ก็ยัง.... This is the Thai equivalent of saying "Even if... [subject] still...".
To form this structure:
- Place ต่อให้ at the very beginning of the hypothetical condition.
- Place ก็ยัง in the result clause, right before the verb (or before auxiliary verbs like จะ).
| Even if it rains, I still will go. | ต่อให้ ฝน ตก ผม ก็ยัง จะ ไป ครับ |
| Even if you hate me, I still love you. | ต่อให้ คุณ เกลียด ผม ผม ก็ยัง รัก คุณ ครับ |
Persistence and Refusal to Give Up
Because this pattern highlights that an outcome won't change, it is perfect for expressing extreme stubbornness or unwavering persistence. It pairs naturally with verbs related to pushing through adversity, such as ยืนกราน (to insist) or refusing to ล้มเลิก (give up).
| Even if you chase him away, he still insists on staying here. | ต่อให้ คุณ ไล่ เขา เขา ก็ยัง ยืนกราน จะ อยู่ ที่นี่ ครับ |

Standing Firm in Extreme Situations
You can also use this structure to describe unconditional stances in the face of intense actions, like someone being obstructed (ขัดขวาง), betrayed (หักหลัง), or begged (อ้อนวอน).

In spoken Thai, if the person carrying out the action in the result clause is obvious from context, the subject pronoun right before ก็ยัง can be dropped to make the sentence flow more naturally.
