Questions & Answers about Tekniken kan framkalla falska minnen i hjärnan.
The current lesson is about i sig (in itself). How would I add that to this sentence to say 'The technology in itself can evoke false memories'?
You would place it directly after the noun it modifies: Tekniken i sig kan framkalla.... This emphasizes that the technology alone, regardless of how it is used or other external factors, has this capability.
Framkalla means 'evoke' here, but what is its literal translation and how else is it used?
Literally, it translates to 'call forth' (fram = forth/forward, kalla = call). Besides evoking feelings, memories, or reactions, it is the standard word used in medicine for 'inducing' (like inducing labor or vomiting) and in photography for 'developing' film.
Why is the plural of ett minne (a memory) minnen instead of adding an '-r' or '-ar'?
Minne is an ett-word that ends in a vowel. The standard rule for ett-words ending in a vowel is that they take an -n in the plural indefinite form, which is why it becomes minnen (memories). If it were an en-word, it would typically take an '-r' ending.
The sentence uses the definite form Tekniken, but in English we might just say 'Technology can evoke...'. Why is the definite form required here?
