Questions & Answers about Han är varken cynisk eller sarkastisk.
How would I say he is "more cynical" or "most sarcastic"?
For Swedish adjectives ending in -isk, you cannot use the normal -are and -ast endings because they would be difficult to pronounce. Instead, you must use mer (more) and mest (most). So "more cynical" is mer cynisk and "most sarcastic" is mest sarkastisk.
How does the varken ... eller structure work?
It translates to "neither ... nor". It is a fixed pair used to connect two negative alternatives. You place varken right before the first option and eller right before the second option, exactly as you do in English.
Why isn't the word inte (not) in this sentence?
The word varken (neither) already carries a negative meaning. In standard Swedish, adding inte alongside varken creates an incorrect double negative. The phrase Han är varken... provides all the negation the sentence needs.
What happens to cynisk and sarkastisk if I use them to describe an ett word?
