Den där videon kan du starta med tummen.

From Lesson 192:Fronting the object·Swedish

Questions & Answers about Den där videon kan du starta med tummen.

Why does it say med tummen instead of using a possessive word like "your"?
In Swedish, when you do an action with a body part, you use the preposition med (with) followed by the definite form of the body part. Since it is obvious whose thumb you are using to press start, Swedish skips the possessive word and just says tummen (the thumb) instead of din tumme (your thumb).
Why is the word order kan du instead of du kan?
This happens because of the V2 (verb-second) rule. The sentence starts with the object Den där videon (That video) to place extra focus on it. Since the verb must be the second block of information in a main clause, the verb kan comes immediately after the object, pushing the subject du to the third position.
Why is it Den där videon with the noun in the definite form?
When you use den där (that) or den här (this) in Swedish, the noun that follows it must always be in the definite form. You are literally saying "that there the-video". Since video is an en-word, its definite form is videon.
Why is it Den där and not Det där?
Video is an en-word (en video), so you must use the en-word form of the demonstrative pronoun, which is den där. If the noun were an ett-word, like ett klipp (a clip), you would say det där klippet instead.
