What's the difference between kille and pojke?
Both mean "boy", but kille is more informal and closer to "guy" or "lad". It is also the standard word for "boyfriend" (as in min kille). You will hear kille constantly in everyday spoken Swedish.
How does the word kille become "the guy" (killen)?
Kille is an en-word. Normally, you add -en to the end of a singular en-word to mean "the". But because kille already ends in a vowel (-e), you just add an -n to make it killen.
Would the adjective trött change if there were multiple guys?
Yes! In Swedish, adjectives must match the noun they describe. Because killen is one person, we use the base form trött. If we said "The guys are tired", the subject becomes plural, so you add an -a to the adjective: Killarna är trötta.
I sometimes see "today" written as two words (i dag). Which spelling is right?
