Why does på konferensen come before idag?
In Swedish, when you have both a place (where) and a time (when) at the end of a clause, the place almost always comes first. This is known as the Place-Time rule. Here, på konferensen is the place and idag is the time, so the place goes first!
How is the word deltagarna formed?
It comes from en deltagare (a participant). For nouns ending in -are that describe people, the plural form is exactly the same: flera deltagare (several participants). To say the participants, you add -na to the plural form, making it deltagarna.
