Åsikt means "opinion" or "point of view." It is the noun you use when talking about an opinion as a thing. When you want to express your actual opinion, you use the verb tycker (for example, jag tycker att... which means "I am of the opinion that..."). But to say "I respect your opinion" or "I have an opinion," you use the noun en åsikt.

Why do we use din instead of ditt here?

Possessive words like "your" have to match the gender of the noun they describe. Because the word for opinion is an en-word (en åsikt), you must use the en-word form din. If the noun were an ett-word, like ett hus (a house), you would use ditt instead (ditt hus).
