Questions & Answers about Pojken hittar ett litet löv i skogen.
Why is the word for small written as litet here instead of liten?
Because löv (leaf) is an ett-word (ett löv). The adjective liten is irregular. When describing a singular ett-word, it changes its form to litet.
How would this change if he found multiple small leaves instead of just one?
The phrase ett litet löv would change to små löv. The adjective liten has a completely different word for its plural form: små. Since löv is an ett-word ending in a consonant, its plural form looks exactly the same as the singular.
I always mix up litet and lite. How can I tell which one to use?
They look similar but have different jobs! Litet means small in size and describes an ett-word, like ett litet löv. Lite means a little bit or some and describes amounts, like lite vatten (a little water).
Why does pojken only add an -n to mean the boy, while skogen adds -en for the forest?
