Questions & Answers about Vi ska resa till Sverige på fredag.
Why is the verb resa used instead of the present tense reser?
The word ska is a helper verb used to talk about the future, similar to "will" or "are going to" in English. After ska, you must always use the basic dictionary form of the main verb (the infinitive). That is why we use resa instead of reser.
Why is the word på used before fredag?
In Swedish, you use the preposition på to say that something happens "on" a specific day of the week. So, "on Friday" translates exactly to på fredag.
Why isn't fredag capitalized like it is in English?
Unlike in English, Swedish days of the week, months, and languages are not capitalized. You only use a capital letter if the word is at the very beginning of a sentence.
Why do we use till for "to" in this sentence?
The word till is used to show movement or direction toward a place. Since the sentence is about traveling toward a destination (Sweden), till is the correct preposition to use.
