The Present Perfect S-Passive
To describe a completed action that has relevance to the present—like recent corporate changes—use the present perfect passive. Like the active present perfect, it uses the helping verb har. The main verb takes the supine form, but with an added -s.
The -ats Ending
For most regular verbs, the active supine ends in -at (for example, omorganiserat). To make it passive, simply add an -s to get -ats.
| The department has recently been reorganized. | Avdelningen har nyligen omorganiserats. |
| The policy has been updated, so the staff is nervous. | Policyn har uppdaterats, så personalen är nervös. |
| The new policy has been presented to the board. | Den nya policyn har presenterats för styrelsen. |
The -ts Ending
For verbs where the active supine ends in just a -t (like infört or stängt), adding the passive -s results in -ts.
| A new procedure has been implemented at the office. | En ny rutin har införts på kontoret. |
Actors and Negation
You can use av (by) to state who performed the action.
| The department has been closed by the board. | Avdelningen har stängts av styrelsen. |
When using negations like inte (not) or adverbs like ännu (yet), place them after the helping verb har.
| The new process has not been presented yet. | Den nya processen har inte presenterats ännu. |
The passive verb form does not change, even with multiple subjects:
| Both the policy and the procedure have been implemented. | Både policyn och rutinen har införts. |
