Usages of meter

Meto los zapatos debajo de la cama.
I put the shoes under the bed.
Ella mete el libro en la caja.
She puts the book in the box.
Rallado el queso, el chef metió el pastel al horno; o sea, lo horneó.
The cheese grated, the chef put the pie into the oven; that is, he baked it.
Yo me iba a meter el cono en la boca, pero me manché la camisa.
I was going to put the cone in my mouth, but I stained my shirt.
