Some of the most common Spanish verbs have irregular stems in the future tense. The endings remain exactly the same (-é, -ás, -á, -emos, -án), but you attach them to a modified stem instead of the infinitive.
| Infinitive | Irregular Stem | Example (él / ella / usted) |
|---|---|---|
| tener (to have) | tendr- | tendrá |
| hacer (to do / make) | har- | hará |
| poder (to be able to) | podr- | podrá |
| saber (to know) | sabr- | sabrá |
| poner (to put) | pondr- | pondrá |
| salir (to leave) | saldr- | saldrá |
| The robot will do the homework. | El robot hará la tarea. |
| That device will have a fast network. | Ese dispositivo tendrá una red rápida. |
| I will put the automatic machine on top of the table. | Pondré la máquina automática encima de la mesa. |
| That robot will leave the house. | Ese robot saldrá de la casa. |
These irregular stems apply to all subjects:
| You will be able to connect the device. | Podrás conectar el dispositivo. |
| You will know how to control the house with your voice. | Sabrás controlar la casa con tu voz. |
| We will be able to connect that sensor to the network. | Podremos conectar ese sensor a la red. |
