Pronouns with negative commands (no me lo des)

Pronouns with Negative Commands

Unlike affirmative commands, where object pronouns attach to the end of the verb, negative commands place them differently. Object pronouns go before the conjugated verb, right between no and the verb.

There is a microphone in the briefcase; do not open it.
Hay un micrófono en el maletín; no lo abras.
Her identity is a secret; please, do not reveal it.
Su identidad es un secreto; por favor, no la revelen.

Using Two Pronouns

When using two pronouns, both go before the verb in the standard order: indirect object (who receives the action) followed by the direct object (what receives the action).

The spy has the microphone. Do not give it to me.
El espía tiene el micrófono. No me lo des.

As always, you cannot pair two pronouns that start with l. Change the first pronoun to se (for example, le lo becomes se lo).

The spy has to find the code, but do not reveal it to him.
El espía tiene que encontrar el código, pero no se lo reveles.
