Questions & Answers about Согласно регламенту, мы должны завершить процедуру к понедельнику.
Why does согласно take the Dative case here (регламенту)?
The preposition согласно (according to) strictly requires the Dative case. It comes from the idea of agreeing or harmonizing with something, like a rule, plan, or in this case, a regulation (регламент).
Could I use до понедельника instead of к понедельнику to mean "by Monday"?
Why is there a comma after регламенту?
In Russian punctuation, introductory phrases that establish a basis or condition—especially those starting with prepositions like согласно (according to), вопреки (contrary to), or благодаря (thanks to)—are usually set off by a comma to create a natural pause.
Why must we use the perfective verb завершить here?
Because there is a strict deadline (к понедельнику), the sentence focuses entirely on producing a finished result. The perfective aspect (завершить) highlights the successful completion of the action, whereas the imperfective would merely describe the ongoing process of finishing it.
