Questions & Answers about Ветер дует с моря, в комнате даже холодно.
Why do we use с here instead of из to mean "from"?
The preposition for "from" depends on the preposition used for "to" or "at." Because you go на море (to the sea), you must return с моря (from the sea). The pairs are always в / из (into / out of) and на / с (onto / off of).
Why does the word for sea change to моря?
The preposition с meaning "from" or "off of" requires the Genitive case. Море is a neuter noun ending in a soft vowel (-е), so its Genitive ending becomes -я, making it моря.
Where is the translation for "it is" in в комнате даже холодно?
Russian doesn't use "dummy" subjects like "it" for weather, temperatures, or environmental conditions. Instead, it uses an impersonal structure with just the condition word (холодно) and no verb in the present tense. Literally, this translates to "in the room even cold."
What is the infinitive of the verb дует, and is it irregular?
The infinitive is дуть (to blow). It is a completely regular first-conjugation (Type 1) verb. You just drop the -ть and add the standard endings: я дую, ты дуешь, он дует.
