Questions & Answers about Я не понимаю ваше решение, хотя внимательно прочитал текст.
Do we always need a comma before хотя?
Yes! In Russian, you must always put a comma before conjunctions like хотя (although), что (that), and потому что (because) when they introduce a subordinate clause.
Why did they leave out the word я (I) after хотя?
Since the subject я was already established at the beginning of the sentence (Я не понимаю), you don't need to repeat it in the second half. Dropping the second pronoun makes the sentence sound much more natural, just like in English.
Why use the perfective verb прочитал here instead of the imperfective читал?
The perfective verb прочитал shows that the action was completely finished. The speaker is emphasizing the result: they read the text from start to finish, but despite that completed effort, they still don't understand the decision.
Why is it ваше решение and not вашу решение?
The noun решение (decision) ends in -е, making it a neuter noun, so it needs the neuter pronoun ваше. It is the direct object of the verb понимаю, so it is in the accusative case. For inanimate neuter nouns, the accusative case looks exactly the same as the nominative (dictionary) form.
How would this sentence change if a woman were speaking?
The only thing that would change is the past tense verb. A female speaker would add an -а to the end, saying прочитала instead of прочитал. The present tense verb понимаю stays the same regardless of gender.
