Why is there an extra "л" in люблю?
When conjugating certain verbs ending in -бить, -вить, -мить, or -пить, an extra л is added to the "I" (я) form. So, любить (to love) becomes я люблю. You won't see this extra letter in the other forms, like ты любишь (you love).
What case is поездки in?
It is in the accusative case because it is the direct object (the thing receiving the action of love). However, for inanimate plural nouns (things, not living beings), the accusative form is identical to the nominative plural form.
How is the plural word поездки formed from its singular form?
The singular is поездка. Normally, to make a feminine noun ending in -а plural, you change the -а to -ы. But Russian has a strict spelling rule: you can never write ы after the letter к (as well as г, х, ж, ч, ш, щ). Instead, you must use и, resulting in поездки.
