Where is the word for "are" in this sentence?
In Russian, the verb "to be" (am, is, are) is almost always left out in the present tense. You literally just say Мы не там (We not there).
Is мы used for all types of "we", regardless of who I am talking to?
Yes! Just like in English, мы is the only word you need for "we". It applies whether your group includes the person you are speaking to or not.
Why does не come directly before там?
In Russian, the negative word не must be placed immediately before the word it negates. Since there is no verb "to be" here, you are directly negating "there", so не goes right in front of там.
