Questions & Answers about Cine lucrează foarte mult?
Why does cine use the lucrează form of the verb?
The question word cine (who) is treated as a third-person singular subject, exactly like el (he) or ea (she). Because of this, you use the he/she form of the verb. For a lucra (to work), that form is lucrează.
A lucra is an "-a" verb. Why does it end in -ează instead of just -ă?
While a lucra is a regular Conjugation 1 verb (ending in -a), it belongs to a very common subgroup of these verbs that adds the extra sounds -ez- before the verb endings in the present tense. For the he/she form, that -ez- changes to -ează.
Does foarte mult literally mean "very much"?
Yes! Foarte means "very" and mult means "much". In Romanian, when you want to say that someone does an action "a lot", the most natural way to express it is by saying they do it "very much" (foarte mult).
How do I pronounce the -ează at the end of lucrează?
The ea is a blend of two vowels that sounds a lot like the "ya" in the English word "yard". The final ă sounds like the short "uh" in "about". Put together, lucrează is pronounced roughly like "loo-KRYA-zuh".
