Result Clauses with "astfel încât"
To express the intended result of an action or the manner in which something is done (meaning "so that" or "such that"), Romanian uses the conjunction astfel încât.
Because it typically expresses an intended outcome, goal, or consequence, astfel încât is followed by a verb in the subjunctive mood (să + verb).
| I adjusted the monitor so that the position is optimal. | Am reglat monitorul astfel încât poziția să fie optimă. |
| She adjusted the chair so that the position is comfortable. | Ea a reglat scaunul astfel încât poziția să fie confortabilă. |
Posture and Productivity
Let's expand our ergonomic vocabulary with terms like a se apleca (to lean) and postura (posture). You can use astfel încât to describe the positive results of building good habits.
| I do not lean anymore, so that the posture remains correct. | Nu mă mai aplec, astfel încât postura să rămână corectă. |
When expressing a simple purpose where the actor remains the same (meaning "in order to"), you will also frequently see the conjunction ca să.
| I leaned to see the monitor better. | M-am aplecat ca să văd monitorul mai bine. |
Finally, a well-adjusted workspace, such as one with a suport lombar (lumbar support), helps prevent oboseala (fatigue) so you can feel your best and get optimal results.
