The Contrastive Connector "Só que"
Planning an event rarely goes perfectly. In casual conversation, when you want to introduce an unexpected twist, complication, or contrast, use the connector só que.

It translates to "except that", "only that", or simply "but", functioning similarly to mas.
Unlike some conjunctions that trigger the subjunctive, só que is always followed by the indicative mood. Just use your normal present, past, or future tenses.
