Questions & Answers about Ten audyt sprawdzi, czy przestrzegacie wymogów i standardów.
Why do the words for requirements and standards end in '-ów' here?
The verb przestrzegać (to comply with, to observe) always requires the Genitive case. Since wymóg and standard are masculine nouns, their plural Genitive form takes the -ów ending, giving us wymogów and standardów.
Our lesson is about "zgodnie z" (in accordance with). How would this sentence look if we used that phrase?
You could rephrase it as: Ten audyt sprawdzi, czy działacie zgodnie z wymogami i standardami (This audit will check if you act in accordance with the requirements and standards). Notice that while przestrzegać forces the Genitive case, using zgodnie z requires the Instrumental case, changing the noun endings to -ami.
The English translation says "if", but the Polish sentence uses "czy". Why not "jeśli"?
When "if" really means "whether", Polish always uses czy. You use czy to introduce indirect yes/no questions like "check whether" or "I don't know if". You only use jeśli for conditions, such as "If you comply, you will pass the audit."
Why does "sprawdzi" translate to the future tense "will check"?
Sprawdzić is a perfective verb, meaning it focuses on a completed result. Perfective verbs don't have a true present tense. When you apply present-tense conjugation endings to them (like the -i ending for he/she/it), they automatically refer to the future.
