Paying for Things with "za"
To express what you are paying for, use the preposition za followed by the accusative case.
Feminine nouns like subskrypcja (subscription) take the ending -ę in the accusative, while their adjectives take -ą.
| I am paying for the monthly subscription. | Płacę za miesięczną subskrypcję. |
Use the perfective verb zapłacić (to pay) for one-off or completed transactions, such as paying for an annual plan.
| Yesterday I paid for the annual subscription. | Wczoraj zapłaciłem za roczną subskrypcję. |
Masculine Inanimate Packages
For masculine inanimate nouns like pakiet (package), the accusative form is identical to the nominative.
The word premium is an indeclinable adjective; its form never changes regardless of the case, gender, or number of the noun it modifies.
| Certain users do not want to pay for the premium package. | Niektórzy użytkownicy nie chcą płacić za pakiet premium. |
Thanking with "za"
Use the exact same za + accusative structure to thank someone for something with the verb dziękować (to thank).
| The new user thanks for the access. | Nowy użytkownik dziękuje za dostęp. |
| Thank you for the monthly package. | Dziękuję za miesięczny pakiet. |
Services and Content
Usługa (service) is a standard feminine noun ending in "-a", so it declines normally in the accusative to usługę.
| She paid for the service yesterday. | Zapłaciła za usługę wczoraj. |
However, treść (content) is a feminine noun ending in a soft consonant, meaning its accusative form is identical to its nominative (treść). Even though the noun itself doesn't change, any adjectives modifying it must still take the feminine accusative ending -ą (like tę ciekawą).
| I am paying for this interesting content. | Płacę za tę ciekawą treść. |
