Hundreds: 200 to 400
Counting by hundreds in Polish starts by modifying the base word for one hundred (sto). For 200, 300, and 400, the endings change slightly to -ście or -sta:
- 200: dwieście
- 300: trzysta
- 400: czterysta

When talking about prices, buying, or renting, you will frequently use the preposition za to mean "for" (in exchange for a specific amount of money).

Hundreds: 500 to 900
Starting at 500, the pattern becomes incredibly consistent. You simply take the standard base number (like pięć for five) and attach the suffix -set.
This gives us pięćset (500), sześćset (600), siedemset (700), osiemset (800), and dziewięćset (900).

Thousands and Combining Numbers
The word for one thousand is tysiąc.
Just like in English, larger numbers are built by stringing the values together from largest to smallest. To say 1,200, you simply say the Polish words for "one thousand" followed by "two hundred" (tysiąc dwieście).
