Usages of ame
今日 は 雨 が 降って いません。kyou wa ame ga futte imasen.
It is not raining today.
雨 が 降って います。ame ga futte imasu.
It's raining.
The rain is new information, so we use the particle が
雨 は 降って います。ame wa futte imasu.
The rain is falling.As for the rain, it's falling
雨 が 見える。ame ga mieru.
Rain is visible; / (I) can see rain.
雨 だった ので 傘 を 買いました。ame datta node kasa o kaimashita.
It was raining so I bought an umbrella.
