Breakdown of ame

You use one towel to wipe four drops of rain.

Usages of ame

今きょ日う　は　雨あめ　が　降ふって　いません。kyou wa ame ga futte imasen.

It is not raining today.

雨あめ　が　降ふって　います。ame ga futte imasu.

The rain is new information, so we use the particle が

Nihon-shiki romanizationwatasi ha tyuugoku kara kimasita

Hepburn romanizationwatashi wa chuugoku kara kimashita

雨あめ　は　降ふって　います。ame wa futte imasu.

The rain is falling.^{As for the rain, it's falling}

雨あめ　が　見みえる。ame ga mieru.

雨あめ　だった　ので　傘かさ　を　買かいました。ame datta node kasa o kaimashita.

It was raining so I bought an umbrella.

雨あめ　です。　行いかない　方ほう　が　いい　です。ame desu. ikanai hou ga ii desu.
