Concessions (per quanto)

To express "no matter how much" or "however much", use the concessive conjunction per quanto. Because it sets up a hypothetical degree of effort, it requires the subjunctive mood.

No matter how much I try, the printer doesn't work.
No matter how much you restart it, the virus is still there.

Notice that verbs like provare (to try) and riavviare (to restart) are conjugated in the present subjunctive (provi, riavvii).

Stubborn Technology

The main clause states the frustrating reality that persists despite the effort in the per quanto clause.

No matter how fast I type, the keyboard is frozen.
No matter how much we modify the setting, the screen remains black.
No matter how much he looks for the virus, he finds nothing.

Hard Consonants

Remember that verbs ending in -care and -gare, like scollegare (to disconnect), add an h in the present subjunctive to keep their hard consonant sound (scolleghi).

No matter how much she disconnects the cable, she cannot restart the device.
However much I type on the keyboard, it does not work without the plug.
