Why is it biram and not birati?
Biram is the 1st person singular present tense form of the verb birati.
- birati = to choose
- biram = I choose / I am choosing
So in a full sentence, Serbian normally uses the conjugated form of the verb, not the infinitive.

So it means I choose.
The basic present-tense pattern for birati is:
- ja biram = I choose
- ti biraš = you choose
- on/ona/ono bira = he/she/it chooses

Why is there no word for I in the sentence?
Serbian often omits subject pronouns when they are already clear from the verb form.
