Questions & Answers about Czy masz coś dla mnie?
Czy turns the sentence into a yes/no question.
- Masz coś dla mnie. = You have something for me.
- Czy masz coś dla mnie? = Do you have something for me?
Unlike English, Polish does not need a separate word like do. The word czy is one common way to mark that you are asking a yes/no question.
It is often optional in speech if your intonation already makes it clear that you are asking:
- Masz coś dla mnie?
This is also very natural.
Polish does not use a separate auxiliary verb like English do to form this kind of question.
In English:
- You have...
- Do you have...?
In Polish, the verb itself is enough:
- Masz...
- Czy masz...? / Masz...?
So masz already means you have, and with czy or question intonation it becomes do you have?
