Usages of tsukeru

私わたし　は　電気でんき　を　つけます。watashi wa denki o tsukemasu.
I turn on the light.
昼ひる　は　窓まど　を　開あければ、　電気でんき　を　つけなくて　も　部屋へや　が　明あかるく　見みえます。hiru wa mado o akereba, denki o tsukenakute mo heya ga akaruku miemasu.
During the day, if I open the window, the room looks bright even without turning on the light.
