Questions & Answers about Mets la pizza au frigo.

Why is there an -s at the end of mets? I thought we dropped the -s for tu commands.
You only drop the final -s for verbs ending in -er (like mange or parle). Since mettre (to put) is an -re verb, the tu command form keeps its -s. It looks exactly the same as the present tense, just without the pronoun: tu mets becomes mets.
Why use au frigo instead of dans le frigo?
Both are perfectly correct and mean the same thing! Dans le frigo emphasizes the physical inside of the fridge, while au frigo (literally "at the fridge") is a very common idiomatic way to say you are putting something away in its designated spot. French speakers use both interchangeably.
Is frigo considered slang?
It's an everyday abbreviation for réfrigérateur, exactly like "fridge" is for "refrigerator" in English. It is informal but completely standard in spoken French, meaning you will hear it much more often than the full word.
