Questions & Answers about Ça y est, je finis mon travail.
Why does Ça y est mean "That's it"?
Does je finis mean "I finish" or "I am finishing"?
It means both! French does not have a separate "am doing" tense like English. You just use the standard present tense je finis for both "I finish" and "I am finishing".
Why does finis end with an "s"?
finir (to finish) is a regular verb ending in -ir. When talking about yourself using je (I), the present tense ending is -is. If you were talking about someone else, like il (he) or elle (she), it would end with a "t": il finit.
