Questions & Answers about Meidän on pakko tilata muuttofirma välittömästi.
Why is muuttofirma in the basic nominative form instead of the accusative muuttofirman?
This is the main rule of the nominal necessity construction! When you use a structure like on pakko with an infinitive verb, the total object loses its normal accusative ending (-n or -t) and appears in the nominative-looking form. So we get muuttofirma instead of muuttofirman.
Why is the subject meidän instead of me?
Necessity phrases in Finnish, including on pakko, täytyy, and pitää, always require their subject to be in the genitive case. Literally, the sentence is built as 'of us there is a compulsion to order'.
How does the adverb välittömästi get its shape from the adjective välitön?
To make an adverb in Finnish, you add the suffix -sti to the adjective's inflectional stem. Adjectives ending in -tön (often meaning 'without') change to -ttömä- in their stem, which is why välitön becomes välittömästi (immediately).
