Questions & Answers about Algoritmi on tylsä kehittää ja testata.
Why is algoritmi in the nominative case here, even though it is the thing being developed?
In this "olla + adjective + infinitive" structure, the thing being acted upon acts as the grammatical subject of the sentence. Because it is the subject and refers to a complete, specific algorithm, it takes the nominative case.
If we were talking about multiple algorithms, how would this sentence change?
You would change the subject to plural (Algoritmit), the verb to plural (ovat), and the adjective to the plural partitive (tylsiä). The sentence would become: Algoritmit ovat tylsiä kehittää ja testata.
Why do we use the basic dictionary form (1st infinitive) for kehittää and testata?
Sentences evaluating an action (using olla + adjective) always connect to the 1st infinitive. It matches the English "to do" form closely, like saying "is boring to develop". You don't need any of the more complex infinitive cases here.
Could I reword this sentence to match the English "It is boring to develop..." word order?
