Why do we use the illative case for uuteen kulttuuriin when the English translation says 'to a new culture'?

How do we get the form uuteen from the dictionary word uusi (new)?
Words that end in -si, like uusi, usually change the -si to -te- before adding case endings. This makes the word's stem uute-. To make the illative case, you lengthen the final vowel and add -n, which gives us uute- + -en = uuteen.
The dictionary form of the verb is sopeutua. Why does the t change to a d in sopeudut?
This happens because of consonant gradation. When you conjugate the verb by adding the -t ending for 'you', you create a closed syllable (a syllable ending in a consonant). A closed syllable forces the strong t in the middle of the word to weaken to a d.
Why does kulttuuriin end with a double i before the -n?
To form the illative case for most words ending in a short vowel, you double that final vowel and add an -n. Since the basic word kulttuuri already ends in an i, you simply add another i and the -n, resulting in kulttuuriin.
