Learn Finnish: Netissä ostaminen on helppoa, mikään ei ole vaikeaa. - Buying on the internet is easy, nothing is difficult.

Ostaminen is a verbal noun made from the verb ostaa (to buy). By adding -minen to the stem, it turns the action into a noun meaning "buying" or "the act of buying." This allows it to act as the main subject of the sentence just like a regular thing.

Why is the adjective helppoa in the partitive case instead of the basic form helppo?

When you describe an activity or an abstract concept (like the verbal noun ostaminen) using the verb olla (to be), the describing adjective must be in the partitive case. This is a very common rule to remember: activities are described with partitive adjectives.

Why does the second half of the sentence use both mikään and ei?

Finnish requires a double negative here. To say "nothing," you must pair the negative verb (ei) with the pronoun mikään (which means "any" or "anything" in negative sentences). Literally, mikään ei ole translates to "anything is not."

The English translation says "on the internet." Why does netissä use the ending -ssä (in)?

In Finnish, you are grammatically "in" the internet, not "on" it. The word netti takes the inessive case ending -ssä to express doing something on the web.
