How do we form the past tense olin from the verb olla (to be)?
In the past tense, the verb olla uses the stem oli-. To say I was, you simply add the I ending -n to that stem, making it olin.
Can I just say Olin eilen mökillä without Minä?
Yes, you can. Because the verb ends in -n, everyone automatically knows you mean I. Including Minä just puts a bit more emphasis on the fact that you were the one there.
