Questions & Answers about Minä kirjoitan nopeasti.
Why does kirjoitan have only one 't' when the dictionary form is kirjoittaa?
This happens because of a rule called consonant gradation. When we add the "I" ending (-n) to the verb's stem, it closes the last syllable (-tan). This causes the strong double consonant tt to weaken into a single t. So, the dictionary word kirjoittaa becomes kirjoitan when you say "I write".
Is it okay to leave out the word minä and just say kirjoitan nopeasti?
Yes, that is perfectly fine! The -n at the end of kirjoitan already tells us who is doing the action ("I"), so the pronoun minä isn't strictly necessary. Leaving the pronoun out is very common in written and spoken Finnish, though keeping it adds a little emphasis.
What does the -sti ending on nopeasti do?
The -sti ending turns an adjective into an adverb, much like adding "-ly" in English. The base word is the adjective nopea (fast or quick), and adding -sti makes it the adverb nopeasti (quickly).
