Questions & Answers about هر چه بیشتر تکرار کنی، تلفظ تو روانتر میشود.
How does the 'the more... the more...' structure work in this Farsi sentence?
It uses har che (literally 'whatever') followed by a comparative word like bishtar (more) in the first clause. The second clause doesn't need a special connecting word; it simply uses another comparative adjective, which is ravān-tar (more fluent) here. Notice that Farsi doesn't use a direct translation of the English word 'the'.
Why is the first verb تکرار کنی (tekrār koni) in the subjunctive mood?
The first half of a 'har che...' sentence acts like a conditional 'if' clause. You are talking about a hypothetical or general action (whenever you repeat more). Because the action is a condition rather than a stated fact, Farsi requires the subjunctive mood.
If تکرار کنی (tekrār koni) is subjunctive, why doesn't it have the be- prefix?
tekrār kardan (to repeat) is a compound verb. With compound verbs using kardan, the subjunctive be- prefix is very often dropped because the non-verbal part (tekrār) already carries the core meaning. You could technically say tekrār bekoni, but tekrār koni is much more natural and common.
Why does the second verb میشود (mi-shavad) use the indicative prefix mi- instead of being subjunctive too?
The second clause is the definite result of the first clause. Just like in standard 'if/then' sentences, the condition takes the subjunctive, but the result uses the normal indicative mood because it describes what factually happens as a result.
