Questions & Answers about اون چنان داستانای مزخرفی رو میگه!
Why isn't there an Ezafe between chenân and the noun phrase it modifies?
chenân (meaning "such" or "that kind of") acts as a demonstrative adjective here. Just like the basic demonstratives in (this) and un (that), it sits directly before the noun phrase and never takes an Ezafe to connect to it.
How do we get the word dâstânây from dâstân (story)?
This is the spoken form of the plural noun. The formal plural is dâstânhâ. In colloquial Farsi, the h is dropped, leaving dâstânâ. Because it is followed by the adjective mozakhraf (nonsense), it needs an Ezafe. To prevent two vowels from clashing (â + e), the consonant y is inserted as a bridge, giving us dâstânây-e.
Why is there an -i suffix at the end of mozakhrafi?
When using chenân or chenin to mean "such a" or "such", Farsi requires the indefinite suffix -i on the noun. When the noun is modified by an adjective, as in dâstânây-e mozakhraf (nonsense stories), this -i is pushed to the very end of the entire noun phrase, resulting in mozakhrafi.
Isn't it contradictory to have the indefinite -i on mozakhrafi followed immediately by the definite object marker ro?
