Questions & Answers about باهاش میرم بازار.
I recognize با (with), but how does it become باهاش to mean with her?
In spoken Farsi, instead of saying با او (with him/her), people often attach personal pronoun endings directly to با. Because با ends in a vowel, the syllable ها is inserted as a bridge before adding the third-person ending ش. So, با + ها + ش becomes باهاش (with him/her/it). You will also commonly hear باهام (with me) and باهات (with you).
Is میرم a shortened verb?
Yes! This is the conversational form of میروم (I go / I am going). In spoken Farsi, the letter و in the present stem of the verb to go is frequently dropped to make pronunciation faster and smoother.
Why is there no word for 'to' before بازار (market)?
In formal written Farsi, you would use the preposition به (to), making it به بازار. However, in everyday spoken Farsi, the preposition به is almost always dropped when indicating a destination with verbs of motion like going, coming, or arriving.
The word order feels a bit reversed. Why is باهاش at the start of the sentence?
Spoken Farsi is very flexible with word order. While the standard written order is Subject + Preposition + Destination + Verb, conversational speakers often put the most important piece of information first. Placing at the beginning emphasizes who the speaker is going with. Additionally, the subject pronoun (I) is dropped entirely because the verb ending already makes it clear who is doing the action.
