Questions & Answers about دو نفر اینجا هستند.
Why is the word for people here نفر instead of مردم?
In Farsi, نفر is used as a counting word (or measure word) for people. When you attach a specific number to people, you always use نفر, like دو نفر (two people). The word مردم means people in a general, uncountable sense (like society or the public) and is never used directly with numbers.
Since we are saying two people, why doesn't the word نفر have a plural ending?
In Farsi, nouns that come right after a number always stay in their singular form. So, you say دو نفر (which literally translates as two person), never دو نفرها.
If the noun نفر is singular, why is the verb هستند (are) plural?
Even though the noun after a number is written in the singular form, it still refers to multiple living things. For people and animals, Farsi matches the verb to the actual plural meaning, so the plural verb هستند is required here. (If you were counting inanimate objects, you would typically use a singular verb instead!)
Why does اینجا (here) come before the verb instead of at the end of the sentence?
Farsi sentences usually follow a Subject-Object-Verb structure, meaning the verb almost always goes at the very end. The location اینجا naturally falls after the subject (دو نفر) and right before the final verb (هستند).
