Questions & Answers about این تصمیمات ارتباطات شرکت را تغییر میدهند.
Both tasmimât (decisions) and ertebâtât (communications) use the -ât plural. Can I just use the regular Persian -hâ plural instead?
The suffix -ât is a formal plural marker borrowed from Arabic, used specifically with certain Arabic loanwords—often abstract nouns or administrative terms. While you might hear people say tasmim-hâ in casual spoken Persian, words like ertebâtât almost always keep the -ât ending as a fixed technical or formal term. Because this sentence discusses corporate policy, using -ât for both is the most natural choice.
Since tasmimât (decisions) is an inanimate subject, shouldn't the verb be in the singular form (midahad)?
In general Persian grammar, inanimate plural subjects usually take a singular verb. However, there is an exception for formal or abstract nouns, especially those using the Arabic -ât plural. In formal writing and business contexts, it is very common to make the verb agree with the plural subject, which is why midahand (they change) is used here. Using the singular midahad would also be perfectly understood.
The translation says "will change", but the verb taghyir midahand is in the present tense. Why?
The prefix mi- on a present stem (here, dah from the verb dâdan) forms the present tense. However, Persian frequently uses this present tense to express definite future actions, similar to saying "we fly out tomorrow" in English. While Persian has a distinct future tense using the verb khâstan, the present tense is much more common for expressing actions that are definitely going to happen.
Why does the object marker râ come after sherkat (company) if the thing being changed is the communications?
