In formal written Farsi, "I want" is می‌خواهم. In colloquial Tehrani speech, the verb stem خواه shrinks and blends with the personal ending to simply become خوام. This makes the spoken word می‌خوام.

What is the formal version of برم, and why is it used in this sentence?

برم is the shortened, spoken version of بروم (that I go). The formal stem رو shrinks to just ر in everyday spoken Farsi. We use this "be-" form (the subjunctive) because it follows the verb "I want" (می‌خوام), making the literal structure "I want that I go".

Why isn't there a preposition for "to" before کافه?

In Farsi, especially in spoken language, verbs of motion like going usually drop the preposition "to" (به). You simply state the destination directly with the verb.
